Laser Printers
If your ink is flaking off your labels, but not your regular white paper, we have a few handy tips for getting the best print quality.
Check your paper Type
At Dashleigh, we offer Laser and Inkjet compatible paper, and inkjet-only.
Solution: Check on the packaging to make sure the paper is laser compatible.
Increase the Paper Density in the Settings
If laser ink is flaking off, it is often an indicator that the printer fuser* is not getting hot enough to apply the ink properly. The paper settings let the printer know how hot to apply the laser toner. By changing the settings to a thicker paper type, the printer will know to print hotter and slower to allow the toner to properly adhere to the paper.
Solution: Review the manual or help section of your printer brand to determine the correct paper setting. Often printers will include a “Labels” or “Cardstock” setting to indicate you are using a thicker paper.
*The fuser is there to apply heat to the paper. This heat melts the toner so it adheres to the paper. If the fuser does not apply sufficient heat then not all the toner will melt, and the un-melted particles can rub off. Try to adjust the fuser temperature by trying a thicker paper type. This will decrease the print time, increase the heat and give the ink longer to adhere to the paper.
